"120 liters is the biggest I think I've seen :^O" 2010-02-04
By The Linux Colonel (Minneapolis, MN, USA)
This backpack has 120 embroidered on the back, which I think means it's a 120 liter, so if you're comparing sizes in liters, there you go. The black and grey version of this bag comes with a rain cover for sure, not sure about the navy/black bag. I ordered 2 of them, one for me and one for a camping buddy, and they both have held up nicely so far, on several overnight backpacking trips in the December and January weather in the Minnesota River Valley. It's adjustable enough to fit someone over 6'3", and as small as about 5'. The whole shoulder piece can be moved up or down in a few seconds with a center adjustment, for taller or shorter people. Very thick material but not too heavy for the bag itself. I put 100 pounds in the backpack and walked around for a few minutes, nothing gave way at all. Can't beat that. Has an internal pouch for a water bladder, which you can buy separately for $10-30. If you do winter camping, I recommend the one Walmart has for $10, because you can remove the bite valve easily and clear the ice out of the tube, which happens on any exposed line fairly quick around 0 degrees F. On that note, the Cabelas brand bladder I also have will probably be nice for summer, since it also comes with the bite valve cover and is very high flow.

"great backpack for the starter hiker" 2010-02-01
By janiek (Columbus, OH USA)
I got this backpack for my 13 year old nephew for Christmas. It was constructed much better than I thought for the price and had so many storage pockets. He was thrilled and it was a good size for him to start out with. The price for these run pretty high so I was excited to give him what he wanted within my budget.

"Great bag especially for the price" 2009-12-15
By Nicholas S. Digenova (Hackensack,nj)
This bag is amazing for the price point that it is. There is tons of room for whatever you need to stuff inside. I used this bag for a 3 week trip to Europe where I pretty much lived out of it. It is very well made and quite sturdy. The only downside is that there are no "bells and whistles" that it's $250-400 competitors might have. And to be honest, this bag serves all of the same functions.. Great bag!!!

"Quality backpack" 2009-10-20
By Justin B. Roumelis (FL USA)
I paid $200+ for this pack at a local outdoors shop, and just finished a weekend backpacking trip with this model. With 55 pounds on my back, I rarely felt uncomfortable. It really does benefit you to buy quality-made gear for backpacking, you don't want to go with cheap junk that will fit poorly and cause strain on your body. I haven't compared it in long-term use to other brands, but Kelty gear has a proven track record and is a good deal for a reasonable price, not too "bargain-bin" style but not grossly expensive either. You don't have to spend a fortune on good gear, just buy the right gear, once!

"Excellent backpack" 2009-08-17
By Erhinoceros
Kelty is known for producing quality, lightweight products but this backpack is truly amazing. It's incredibly light, is excellently designed for maximal space and comfort. I took this pack on a backpacking trip to Greece and the only time the backpack became sweaty was hiking up Delphi ruins in nearly 95 degree weather. It is sleek, fits well on my small frame, and even the silver color which I was worried about being either too drab or too flashy is aesthetically pleasing. I have no complaints about this top notch product.

"Good quality, yet expensive" 2010-01-27
By Max (Minneapolis, MN)
Pretty good quality. Easy to pack when not used. Foldable into a small pouch that comes along with the cover. Light weight. if you are looking for a good quality product, this will not let you down.

Its good, but very expensive. I came to know from my friends there are a lot of cheaper and better options, very importantly SIZE - [http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001A47T3G?ie=UTF8&tag=mama0f-20&creativeASIN=B001A47T3G].

Despite the good quality, I am giving this 4 stars for the price factor.

"Kelty Rain Cover" 2010-01-21
By Doug C. (Arizona)
Well, its a cover to prevent rain from soaking your gear, and it works. The fit is good, and the mesh storage pouch is handy to keep the cover in its place when not deployed.

I would like to add the size recommendation by Kelty, they recommend Medium for pack of 3000 cu/inches and less, and Large for packs over 3000 cu/inches.

I have a Red Cloud 6650 and the cover fits great. No major folds or "valleys" to collect water that could add unnecessary weight, run down into the pack, and most importantly no water will be splashing down the back of my neck. I definately recommend having one in your backpack at all times, you never know when Mother Nature will throw you a curve ball.

"Diaper Bag" 2009-07-12
By Avivi (Schenecatdy, NY USA)
This bag has served my wife the longest of all her diaper bags. She finds this to be the most useful of all the bags she has used. The design is simple, light, and does not have wasteful functions.

Customer Buzz
"Excellent (as in, close to perfect but not quite) Diaper Bag" 2009-07-08
By W. Edwards (Spokane, WA)
This bag is an excellent middle-sized diaper bag.

The size (not mentioned above) is roughly 13" tall by 13" wide by about 5" deep. It's about twice as large as a smaller sized purse, about 2/3 the size of a laptop sized tote.

Pros:

- medium size works well for everyday use.

- front compartment is great for purse-type items while main compartment great for baby gear, thus getting rid of the need to carry two bags.

- many pockets of varying sizes makes it easy to organize things.

- flap top opening makes it easy to get into things one-handed

- well made with solid zippers, good cloth, sturdy seams, etc.

- one pocket in the main compartment is right up near the top and light-colored inside - perfect for items you often need right away and don't want to dig for.

- messenger strap/backpack straps both comfy - the versatility is very helpful, especially if parents prefer different styles of carrying the bag.

- plain black and gray color is good for those who don't like froufy and/or babyish diaper bags

- decent price for a good product.

Cons:

- plain black and gray is well...plain. kind of a boring-looking bag, truthfully.

- changing pad is not that great. does not fold flat once you put anything in the attached pouch. it takes up room in main compartment - i packed it into the backpack strap pouch on the back. it has no velcro on it and just sort of flops open. also, it's not very big. oh well, i didn't buy the bag for the changing pad.

- front flap is one giant pocket, but the opening to that pocket is a 4" size zip pocket on the left side. this means either you stuff something big into that pocket through a small opening (like a blanket) OR you put small things into the giant pocket and they rattle around (like my keys). it would have made more sense for the whole pocket to zip open at the top OR to have divided up that space into multiple small pockets.

-while parts of the interior are light colored, most of the interior is black, which makes it harder to see things.

Overall, good product, far better than most diaper bags I've seen (and I've looked around a lot). Just a few tweaks would have made it pitch perfect for me.

The 4,500-cubic-inch pack is also incredibly sturdy thanks to the tough construction, which includes a body made of 420-denier nylon micro ripstop and a reinforcement fabric made of 600-denier polyester kodra and 500-denier nylon kodra. And as with the best modern packs, the Coyote 4500 is hydration compatible, so you can easily satiate your thirst while on the move.

And as a bonus, the pack's top lid detaches and converts to a fanny pack, making it easy to take day hikes from your base camp. "Great pack." 2010-01-08
By Anthony M. Venuso (Leland, Illinois)
First, i have to admit that i have not used this on a trip yet (i'm planning too, and i'll write another review later to compare my thoughts afterwards). I've worn it around, and have put various weights in the bag to test it out (from 15-40 lbs). I am very pleased with the pack. It has tons of straps to allow the pack to be as compact as possible so nothing moves around. There are multiple pockets... a spot for every thing you need. It seems like every time i unload and load it back up i find a new strap or a new storage area. The pack was well thought out. Kelty provided mini pouches on the waist belt it can hold about 4 energy bars in each...

Second, I'm 5'7" and 180 LBS. and the pack was probably just the right fit after adjusting every thing to where it needed to be. But, the adjustable frame was slightly past it's limit due to the lack of velcro to hold it (actually i had to add a little piece of duct tape around the strap where the velcro normally was in order to hold it in place... but it did the Job...). The pack is amazingly comfortable. With 40 lbs in it i could jump around and the pack would move right along with me.

It's great! I almost feel like skipping my semester of school in order to go hiking for a few months. I'll be going on spring break so i can test it to it's fullest and then i'll be able to give a better opinion. Right now it's the best pack i ever owned and have used.

"Great deal" 2009-06-17
By Bonnie Fleming (New Jersey)
This is an amazing backpack that I received as a gift. I plan to use it to hike the Appalachian Trail, and other various places. The backpack has many compartments and great adjustments to ensure comfort. The only complaint I have is that the directions are extremely vague in regards to getting the straps to the correct settings. Other than that it is overall a great backpacking backpack.

"Very good quality" 2010-01-21
By Max (Minneapolis, MN)
Very carefully designed and ideal for short trips. I was not sure about this product when I bought this and I have been very satisfied with this. There is a lot of space for small things like wallet, bottles, socks and stuff. [The compartments are on the other side though] The view that baby gets is amazing and the support is very good.

When your partner takes over the baby, the carrier does not feel bulky. I wish there was more space for the baby though and the carrier be more flexible to accommodate big babies too.

Not for long trips, unless you take turns, else you ll end up with sore shoulders.

As the baby grows in length, I have been skeptical in using this carrier and you cannot afford to take risks. This models is more ideal for babies over 2 years [http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001LDJG1O?ie=UTF8&tag=mama0f-20&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B001LDJG1O]

Also need more width in the torso for easy use for ones with a big belly.

CON:

"What a fantastic carrier!" 2009-03-09
By Heather (Tustin, CA United States)
I bought this on a whim, but what a great product! My daughter is 17 months (20 lbs) and loves to ride in it. It's pretty comfortable, but if you're not used to lugging that much extra weight around you'll get kinds sore in the shoulders. The back pack part is very roomy, enough to hold baby gear and adult stuff too.

My only suggestions for future models would be to pad the chest strap and add a "fanny pack" type pouch to the front or side of the belt area for quick accsess items like a wallet or keys. It's a kind of a pain to take the whole thing off to get in the back.
